My wife purchased my first wheel in the fall of 2008. Without a permanent place to throw and not prioritizing time, I only made a handful of pieces in the years to follow. All the while trying different forms in the search for my identity in the vast world of ceramics. I eventually set up shop in the garage and with the addition of a new bigger kiln I made a resolution to begin creating more. That was 2013, and by the following year I had stepped into the world of carving clay. One I don't think I'll be leaving anytime soon. The day I started carving clay was the day I realized I had found my passion in ceramics.
I've always enjoyed beautiful patterns and designs and the process of carving them into the clay is very calming and enjoyable for me. I love seeing how the glazes respond to the variations of textures and patterns. I love making something out of nothing. I love the process and how it forces me to slow down a little in this busy life. I love opening the kiln to see what has become of my work. I love seeing a piece leave my hands to be enjoyed by others. And if all that I do brings a sense of awe, a smile to one's face, a desire to create... well that makes this all the more fulfilling. And for that I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart.
Stay Creative,
